inner child

let’s reconnect and build our relationship with our inner child.

it is time to play agaIN!!!

become a safe grown-up for your inner child.

An adult who listens. who Keeps promises. who allows rest. An adult who doesn’t shame emotions. An adult who makes room for curiousity, messiness, mistakes, imagination, and play.

we don’t have to remain children to keep these parts of ourselves alive. We simply stop abandoning them in the name of adulthood.

take their hand and move forward together. every now and then, let them choose the way.

Sometimes your inner child doesn’t need you to analyze them. Sometimes they just need you to play with them.

How well do you know your inner child?

MEETING YOUR INNER CHILD

When we hear the words inner child, we often immediately think about childhood wounds, unmet needs, difficult emotions, and healing.

And yes, our younger experiences are part of the story. But your inner child isn’t only the part of you that was hurt.

IT IS ALSO THE PART OF YOU THAT PLAYED!

The part that wondered. The part that imagined. The part that made things simply because making them was fun.

The part that danced without wondering what anyone thought, asked a thousand questions, became fascinated by tiny things, invested entire worlds, laughed until their stomach hurt, and knew how to experience a moment without needing it to accomplish anything.

Inner-child work doesn’t always have to mean going backwards to find what went wrong. Sometimes it means going back to remember what was right!

GET TO KNOW THEM AGAIN

Imagine meeting your younger self today-not because something needs to be healed, but because you’d genuinely like to know them.

WHAT WOULD THEY WANT TO DO?

WHAT WOULD MAKE THEIR EYES LIGHT UP?

WHAT DID THEY COLLECT?

WHAT MUSIC DID THEY LOVE?

WHAT DID THEY DRAW?

WHAT MADE THEM BELLY LAUGH?

WHAT DID THEY BELIEVE WAS POSSIBLE?

And most importantly………

WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN ASKING YOU TO DO THAT GROWN-UP YOU KEEPS CALLING SILLY, UNNECESSARY, UNPRODUCTIVE, OR IMPRACTICAL?

Now let your inner child choose. Go to the grocery store and let them choose a ridiculous snack. Buy the colorful socks. Swing at the playground. Finger paint. Build something. Sing badly. Dance in the kitchen. Watch the movie you loved when you were ten. Go outside and look for shapes in the clouds. Make a blanket fort. Pick dandelions. Jump in the water. Order the ice cream.

DO SOMETHING FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON OTHER THAN- “THIS MAKES ME HAPPY”

Notice what happens in your body when you do. When we connect with our emotions as they rise, instead of immediately trying to process or fix; imagine sitting beside yourself self and become curious together.

“Where do we feel this?”

“What does it remind us of?”

“What would feel good right now?”

If the answer is cookies then that is allowed.

SAY YES TO COOKIES AND ICE CREAM
